Meet Microsoft Staffing Consultant Steve Sim

Good Afternoon folks. I had the opportunity to sit down and talk shop with Steve Sim, Staffing Consultant (aka MS speak for Recruiter) for the Live Search/Core Search Engineering Team.

Our focus of this conversation was to talk about the Search group so I could get a little better idea about what is really going on there and what he is recruiting for.

The Search Team is doing some pretty cool stuff and it seems like they are continuing to make big strides in making Search effective. While we were chatting about this, Steve demonstrated a side by side comparison with one of our competitors and the results were pretty amazing (Check out www.live.com). Oh, and try comparing video or image search results for a very different experience. And not just the results it yielded, but the layout as well.

While still in beta, I have access to Kumo (I'm a blue-badger too) and I ran some of my own searches for candidates, blogs, images, etc all in an effort to find those involved with the Mobile Advertising Space (my plug that this is going to be an area of growth for us:-)). Kumo came back with some different, and equally strong results as the competition.

Now I'm not sure when official launch is of our new version of Search, but when you do get access, give it a whirl. I think you will see some great enhancements and improvements to what you are seeing and using now.

On a recruiting front, for those of you looking for incredible technology challenges and love the web services space, check out what the Search Team has to offer. You can find Steve on LinkedIn at http://www.linkedin.com/in/stevesimrecruiting.

Feel free to follow me on Twitter for job highlights, future interviews and much more.

Enjoy your day

Job Seeker Networking Event

Good Evening. So while this event took place Monday night, I share b/c there is another one coming April 13th. For those of you in the HR and Recruiting profession, if you are not part of WARecruit (can be found via Yahoo Groups), you should join. It's a great local Seattle/Puget Sound org to be a part of for networking.

I had a chance to follow up with my new associate and friend Lesa, who is big part of why this event took place and is happening again. It was a success and lots of new connections were made. I will keep this post short this time, but definitely wanted to get it out there in front of everyone.

I will be getting the flier for the next one soon and will get it on here as a reminder. But for now, make note of the date, April 13th.

I will be making time in my schedule so I can attend. Hope I see you there. BR
